Valeria Solarino is one of the most well-known and respected actresses in Italy, having been awarded the Donatello and Pasinetti Awards for Best Actress.

Born in Barcelona, Venezuela, to a Sicilian father and a Turinese mother, Solarino grew up in a multicultural environment.

After studying philosophy at the University of Turin, Solarino began her acting career at the Teatro Stabile.

Her career took off in 2003 when she was chosen by director Mimmo Calopresti for a small role in La felicità non costa niente (Happiness Costs Nothing). In the same year, she played Maya in Fame chimica (Chemical Hunger) by Paolo Vari and Antonio Bocola, and Bea in Che ne sarà di noi (What Will Become of Us) by Giovanni Veronesi.

In 2005, Solarino starred in La febbre (The Fever) by Alessandro D’Alatri, and in 2006, she appeared in Viaggio segreto (Secret Journey) by Roberto Andò. In 2009, she played a lesbian lover in Viola di mare (Purple Sea), a historical film directed by Donatella Maiorca that was presented at the Rome Film Festival.

In 2018, Solarino played the role of psychologist Anna in As Needed, directed by Francesco Falaschi.

In Spain, she is known for portraying Lucía Bosé in the biopic series Bosé (2022), produced by Banijay Iberia for Paramount SkyShowtime.

Valeria’s career has been recognized with numerous awards and nominations, notably winning the Best Actress Lead at the David di Donatello Awards for her work in Signorina Effe and the Pasinetti Award for Best Actress Lead at the Venice Festival for her role in Valzer
