Before pursuing acting, Irene won the Venezuelan National Surf Championship and began a modeling career that led her to be crowned Miss Venezuela in 2011 and finish as second runner-up at Miss Universe 2012. Building on this success, she transitioned into her true passion—acting. After training in New York and London, she made her television debut as the lead in Corazón Esmeralda (2014) and Piel Salvaje (2015), followed by her role as María García in the miniseries Poseída (2016).

Her breakout role came with Bolívar: Una lucha admirable (2019), where she played the Liberator’s first wife, Doña María Teresa Rodríguez del Toro y Alayza. Her performance as this pivotal figure in Simón Bolívar’s life was widely praised by critics and audiences alike.

Irene went on to star in films such as El Baile (2019) and Caballero Águila (2022) before expanding her career to Spain with the second season of the hit series El Inmortal. In it, she plays Paulina, a captivating Mexican criminal who becomes the love interest of one of the main characters and evolves into a central figure in the ’90s Madrid-set crime drama. She reprises this role in El Inmortal 3, which will premiere in 2026 on Movistar+.

Most recently, Irene released her first feature film as both executive producer and lead actress: Visceral, a Venezuelan thriller written and directed by César Manzano. She plays Susana, a woman trapped in a crumbling marriage who becomes entangled in a crime of passion that brings her face to face with corrupt police, organized money-laundering rings, and a long-planned revenge. The film has earned 16 nominations at the Soto Awards of the Venezuelan Film Academy, including Best Film and Best Actress for Irene Esser.
